Job overview
Governor
Position: Voluntary
Truro School is seeking to recruit two new Governors who are interested in applying their skills and/or experience within a rewarding voluntary role, helping to shape our young people’s future.
The Board of Governors works closely with the Head and Senior Leadership Team and acts as a “critical friend”, providing challenge and support in equal measure. Our Governors have integrity, strong personal and professional values and a willingness to challenge and ask questions along with an understanding of the needs of the business and an appreciation of the methodist ethos of the School. You will be supporting the delivery of educational excellence and be responsible for ensuring the clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
We welcome interest from anyone who feels they have the right skills or experience to contribute to the work of the Board. We are particularly keen to hear from those with a professional legal qualification and from individuals with a chartered surveyor or civil engineering background to chair our Estates Committee.
We actively encourage applications from all members of society, regardless of background, culture, gender, ethnicity, disability, or age. Full training and support will be provided. Cornish residency is desirable but not essential. At this time however, we cannot accept applications for our governor roles from parents of current pupils, our full permitted quota having been reached.
For more information, please visit: Employment Opportunities at Truro School . Truro School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring service.
If you have a passion for education and can be an active member of the Board of Governors, we are keen to hear from you. Please submit your CV and a covering letter expressing interest to the Clerk to the Governor’s office: rb@truroschool.com by Monday 2 March 2026.
