About Harare International School
Located in the city of Harare, Zimbabwe, Harare International School is a co-educational day school. First established in 1992, the school moved onto its current site in 1994. The school has around 400 students aged 2-18, and is partially supported by the US embassy. An independent school, Harare International School accepts students from a huge variety of countries, and is able to boast of a 22-acre campus. This campus plays host to numerous high-quality teaching and recreational facilities, including a performing arts centre, swimming pool, gymnasium, various IT labs, as well as a fully equipped library and art room. The school follows a curriculum mainly based on North American principles, as well as the International Baccalaureate (IB). Younger students at the school take part in the IB Early Years Programme, with the intention and expectation that they will then go on to fulfilling the full International Baccalaureate qualification when they reach senior years. This allows the school to have a consistent curriculum and programme throughout its year groups, an advantage for its students.
