Job overview

Are you considering a career in Teaching, but would like to gain some school experience first? We are looking for enthusiastic graduates to join us as Assistant Teachers to support the learning of our pupils.

Are you a graduate, or final year undergraduate, considering your career options? Do you have a real love of children and a desire to have a career where you can have an impact on young lives, but are not sure whether teaching is for you? Our three schools have children from aged 2 – 11 years so we can give a breadth of experience to enable you to make an informed choice about where your passion for teaching may lie. In this role you will gain invaluable experience and training, and support applying for the Sept 2020 GLF SCITT (School Centred Initial Teacher Training) programme.

Among the very experienced Executive Leadership Team we have a Local Leader of Education (LLE) and a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE), as well as other school leaders who work closely with the GLF Teaching School and SCITT. This enables us to support staff career development at all levels including LSA and Graduate Teacher Apprenticeships, HLTA training, Initial Teacher Training (SCITT), Middle and Senior Leader and Deputy Headteacher development programmes. We also have a team of experienced staff who mentor and coach our NQTs and trainees and lead CPD both in-house and across the Trust. With our values: Respect - Endeavour - Succeed underpinning our inclusive ethos, this is an exciting opportunity to start your career in education.

Hours are negotiable but will include a minimum of 5 mornings a week, so whether you are looking for full-time or part-time, we would love to hear from you.

We are part of GLF Schools who aspire to create a group of academies that have a reputation for delivering an outstanding education for all children and students. Whilst operating as a part of a family, each school exists in its own right, maintaining its own unique characteristics and individual identity. Whilst each school serves to meet the needs of its local community, all are united in their core purpose of providing an outstanding educational experience. Joining GLF schools brings a wealth of opportunity both personally and professionally. GLF Schools will recognise your skills, encourage creativity and provide opportunities for you to grow, learn and flourish. As a member of staff you can expect GLF to invest in your career progression, provide a bespoke career development plan and offer the potential to be fast tracked into leadership.

Ideal candidates will:

• Be a team player, as well as being self-motivated and showing initiative

• Have the desire to enthuse and engage children in purposeful learning experiences

• Be passionate about children's learning & welfare

• Have high expectations of achievement and behaviour

Our Federation aims to provide an aspirational and rounded education for all children in our distinct community.

We want our children to have the very best start in life and are fortunate in being able to offer a wide range of family services through our Children’s Centre.

In our schools we want children to grow into confident, thoughtful and highly motivated learners, unlocking their potential through continually expanding what they believe to be possible.

We have wonderful grounds at both schools, enabling us to provide rich indoor and outdoor learning environments where we can cultivate the habits and attitudes of curious, confident, independent learners.

As well as achieving well academically, we believe that it’s important for children to build the mental, emotional and social skills to enjoy challenge, and cope with the increasingly uncertain and complex world they live in.

Above all we aim to stir in children a passion for discovering the things they excel at and to develop the capability and confidence to pursue them actively throughout their lives.
