Job overview

This exciting role will require you to support the Head of Drama with teaching (our students follow the Eduqas specification at GCSE and Edexcel at A level) and the department’s co-curricular programme. You will provide administrative support for the Drama department and model scholarship in Drama, all the while challenging, supporting and inspiring our pupils.

This position is part-time, ideally equating to 2 to 3 days per week (availability to be agreed), term time only, Mondays to Fridays. The expected daily working hours will be between 8:15am and 4:30pm. To support this busy, thriving department, at certain times of the year additional hours will be required before and after school and occasionally during weekend/holiday periods, to attend rehearsals, performances, theatre trips, etc. Performance dates are published at the start of each term.

This position is offered on a fixed term contract for the academic year 2024/25. This position is subject to annual review and we expect it to be extended.

Applicants will have extensive experience of performing in a range of productions from a wide range of genres, possibly including dance and music. They will have experience of directing theatre productions and, ideally, experience of working with young people either in a teaching capacity, rehearsals or workshops. At Harrodian, we aim to develop curious and independent individuals and encourage students to pursue the subject on both a creative and intellectual level. The Department seeks to promote Drama outside of the classroom: the postholder will be encouraged to organise theatre trips, visits and productions.

The successful candidate will:

  • demonstrate the ability to work under pressure, as part of a team and maintain an excellent sense of humour
  • have good personal presentation skills and be able to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and orally
  • demonstrate the ability to establish rapport with pupils, parents and colleagues
  • be willing to take on new challenges
  • have excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • have a flexible and enthusiastic approach to work and be able to work into the evenings and at weekends for rehearsals and performances
  • have a willingness and an enthusiasm to engage in the whole life of the school.

Harrodian offers a range of benefits, including:

  • Free lunches during term-time
  • Free parking (on a first come first served basis)
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Defined pension contribution scheme
  • Free access to some of the School’s sport and leisure facilities
