Job overview

For September 2021 Stowe School is looking to appoint a graduate sports coach with a specialism in hockey.  We are looking for enthusiastic team players with a love of sport who are equally committed to participation as well as performance, and have the ability to engage and motivate students. Stowe runs two terms of hockey across the Autumn and Spring Terms, and both the boys and girls teams play in the Independent Schools Hockey League. An ability to coach a summer sport would be advantageous.

We welcome all degree subjects and the successful candidate would be expected to assist with the administration of the sports department as well as to take on a pastoral role within a boarding house. There will be opportunities to assist with the teaching of PE and Sports Science as well as work with younger students who are part of the Stowe Group of Schools. The Stowe Group consists of Stowe School, Winchester House Prep School and Swanbourne House Prep School.

The department is committed to career progression and training. We can assist with getting additional coaching qualifications and attending specialist courses to enhance your coaching C.V. We can also provide time for post graduate study. Where appropriate additional classroom teaching can be offered and experience also gained in other areas of the school such as our marketing and commercial departments.

In addition, Stowe has very close links with Buckingham Ladies and Men’s Hockey Club with training, playing and coaching opportunities available at the club which is based on site at the school.

Competitive salary, accommodation and full board will be provided.
