This is an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic and innovative musician to contribute to the co-curricular musical life of Streatham & Clapham High School. 

This is a new position that will support our growing music department and your responsibilities will include:

  • Working as a liaison with professional opera companies, which include the Royal Opera House and Garsington
  • Helping with preparation for girls involved in opera outside school
  • Chaperoning and taking notes in opera rehearsals offsite
  • Supporting students in their preparation for practical and music theory examinations

The post requires a commitment of 3½ days a week, term time only.

Music at Streatham & Clapham High School

The Music Department celebrates the musical ability of all pupils. In addition to school concerts and recitals, the school now regularly provides children’s choruses for the Royal Opera House and is collaborating with Garsington Opera this summer.  Events are organised for choirs and instrumentalists to gain performing experience at prestigious venues, including Southwark Cathedral, The Hideaway Jazz Club in Streatham and European locations.

About Streatham and Clapham High School

SCHS is abuzz with activity.  Pupils regularly put on ambitious drama productions.  The school has four choirs, a full orchestra and a variety of chamber-music groups.  Its pupils participate in a legion of sporting activities, in which they achieve great success.  SCHS’s Gymnastics teams, for instance, were the best in England in the 2012 National Gymnastics Competition.  However, pupils attain success across the spectrum of activity, from achieving outstanding results in public-speaking competitions, to winning prizes for the crash-testing of vehicles at Imperial College; from gaining awards for eco-action and sustainability, to trekking across the Atlas Mountains in Morocco or to the base camp of Mount Everest.
