The Winchester College Graduate Trainee Teacher (Junior Fellowship) scheme is an exciting opportunity for graduates considering a career in education.

The Junior Fellowship is offered annually on a fixed one-year basis to recent university graduates and has been designed to provide aspiring teachers with the support and training they need to be become excellent practitioners both in and outside the classroom. 

As well as offering a constructive, practical first step into the world of teaching the scheme offers an all-encompassing experience of school life in an independent boarding school.

Outside of the classroom Junior Fellows support one of our eleven boarding houses and get to know the boys in a different environment. Extra-curricular involvement will depend on expertise. We have a vast range of sport and cultural activities taking place throughout the week, as well as an extensive trips programme during the holidays in the UK, Europe and further afield.

Situated in Hampshire, Winchester College is an independent, secondary school for pupils aged between 13 and 18. The school was founded in 1382 by the Bishop of Winchester, William of Wykeham. It was expanded in the 19th Century to accommodate the popular demand in the local society. At the moment, there are over 700 pupils enrolled at the boarding school.

Winchester College aims to give pupils attending the school an enriching curriculum where they will learn new skills in order to live in the modern world. This includes communication and leadership skills. The school hopes the children will become life-long learners and be excited to continue learning a subject of their choice at university level. Pupils are successful in achieving high levels in a wide range of co-curricular activities, notably in academic competitions, music and sport. In their learning, pupils display enthusiasm, commitment and a love of reading and research.
