Job overview

If you are a recent university graduate (or will graduate in 2019) who is interested in gaining initial classroom experience as a Teaching Assistant, The Elmgreen School wants to hear from you. We are looking to offer graduates of Maths, the Sciences and English an opportunity to gain knowledge of the classroom and their first steps in their journey to become a teacher.

The Elmgreen School believe the most effective way to experience all aspects of school life is to be based in a school environment, learning to teach with expert classroom practitioners. Our school-based Teaching Assistant placements are based in our Additional Educational Needs department and support students in the classroom with various needs. We can offer you invaluable classroom experience to help develop your knowledge and skills ahead of Initial Teacher Training. We expect that many of our graduate Teaching Assistants will go on to complete their Initial Teacher Training through The Elmgreen School.

Working as part of a highly experienced, collaborative and talented team, your role will be to provide support, either in 1:1 tuition, in-class support or small group intervention to students with varying abilities and needs in Maths, Science and English. You will be encouraging and supporting individual students to reach their full potential, whilst demonstrating a creative and determined attitude that will help motivate students.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a school that provides a first class learning environment based on outstanding teaching, great relationships and excellent facilities.

The Elmgreen School is part of The Great Northwood Education Trust with Rosendale Primary School. The school is fully comprehensive and offers a broad and balanced curriculum designed to help all students succeed.
