Academically gifted and enthusiastic graduate looking to gain further experience as a Teaching Assistant in a Primary School?

Do you have previous experience of supporting young people with learning needs? 

Do you need to gain primary Teaching Assistant experience in order to support your PGCE, or have a degree in Psychology looking to gain invaluable, post qualification experience?

This Graduate TA appointment will involve supporting a small number of pupils in their maths learning. You will be responsible for promoting inclusion; working according to pupils needs and the programme outline and advancing learning allowing the children you will be working with to make positive progress. Training in maths interventions will be provided.
The successful candidate should:

  • Be passionate about maths 
  • Have a proven track record of working with children 
  • Be highly flexible and adaptable in order to meet the differing needs of the      pupils
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills- GCSE in both ( Grade C or above) 
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Have an extremely patient attitude ensuring a positive role model for children
  • Be willing to work key Stages 1 & 2

Person Specification

For this Primary Teaching Assistant post it is essential that all applicants are graduates with 2:1s or better at degree level. The ideal candidates will be highly personable team players with the drive and perseverance to out do all expectations. 

The Teaching Assistant post is for the full academic year and is geared to give you enough classroom experience to put towards a successful PGCE or similar application.

John Scurr Primary School is a mixed primary for pupils aged 4-11, located in Stepney, East London. A school of larger-than-average size, John Scurr is proud of its diversity, with pupils from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds, as well as an above-average number of students with special educational needs.
