Term Time Only (36 weeks per year)
Fixed Term: 1 September 2020 to 8 July 2021
We have a great opportunity for a trainee library assistant to join our experienced library team.
We are a leading independent day school in Hammersmith with a large, open-plan library. Our students enjoy visiting the library for independent research, class visits and reading for pleasure.
Applications are invited for a fixed-term post starting in September 2020 and finishing on 8 July 2021. The post is intended for a graduate wishing to gain library experience before undertaking a postgraduate course in Librarianship/Information Studies or for recent graduates of such a course seeking to specialise in school librarianship.
The graduate trainee will assist in the day-to-day running of the library; staffing the desk (issuing, renewing and returning items on the library system), supervising students, helping with enquiries, processing stock and planning creative, thematic displays.
Hours are 10am – 6.15pm Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week with a 45-minute unpaid lunch break) during term times, plus INSED days. Some flexibility is required as you will be responsible for closing the library at 6pm.
