Weston College is the regional provider for the Prison Education Framework (PEF) across the South West & South East of England and is now seeking to recruit a number of regional Graduate Trainees - Student Engagement to support the delivery of prison education across a number of Prisons.


The successful applicant will be required to promote and support engagement with learning that is flexible and responsive to the needs of all learners and the wider prison community, including the use of the Virtual Campus for learning, resettlement and employment.


They will be required to work in partnership with a range of organisations within 3/4 prisons and will be based primarily in the prisons’ education departments. The role will be varied allowing the successful candidate to gain valuable experience working in a range of different prisons supporting a range of roles.


During the year the successful candidates will support our delivery of Prison Education by facilitating learning sessions and conducting essential administrative duties. Supporting and covering a range of roles, they will also benefit from being part of exceptional teams receiving a thorough induction to prison work and continued professional development, enhancing their skills working in both the justice and education sectors.

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS and obtain the appropriate prison clearance before starting the role.

Our history - past to present

Weston College has served the education and training needs of its local community for more than 100 years. It has its origins in private drawing and painting classes provided by Henry Stacy in Oriel Terrace in 1859.

The School of Art was opened on 7 February 1865 under the auspices of the Government's Department of Science and Art, and with the aid of £40 collected from local residents. In its first year of existence the Principal was the only teacher and approximately 80 students attended the six classes held weekly.

Since 1 April 1993, the College has been an autonomous public body. It is funded directly by central government via the Learning & Skills Council (LSC).
