Job overview

*** GRADUATE CAMPAIGN NOW OPEN ***

Finishing at Uni and looking for your first step into a successful Web Development career?

*** WE'RE RECRUITING ***

Our award winning in-house Marketing and Communications department is looking to recruit a Graduate Web Developer to join us straight from Uni on an initial one year contract. Launch your career and get hands-on experience from day one, working on our high traffic, highly successful live sites.

Who we're looking for: We're looking for graduates with a web development background and a passion to succeed in this competitive sector. Your degree might be in Computing, Marketing or another similar discipline. You'll need experience and a passion for web development - be that gained commercially or from your own projects. Our live sites run primarily on Drupal and Wordpress environments, so a good working knowledge of these would be highly beneficial.

*** APPLY NOW - CLOSES TH 9TH JULY ***

What you'll be working on: You'll be based full time at our Knightstone Campus in Weston-super-Mare; Monday to Friday 8.30am until 5pm (with an early finish on Friday's). You'll have your own desk with MAC computer - including 2 x 27" monitors.

Reporting to our Web Development Lead and as part of the wider Marketing and Communications team, you'll be working on the maintenance and development of our 13 live sites. These span further and higher education, hospitality and leisure, commercial training, prison education and community interest companies and their sites.

This role has a nice balance of process driven technical administrative tasks and more adhoc requests coming in throughout the day. As part of the Marketing team you'll also need to be flexible with occasional evening and weekend working - helping with the smooth running of our larger events (Open Days, Graduation, Awards shows etc).

The training you'll get: We don't expect our graduate trainee's to know everything from day one - but we do expect them to hit the ground running! You'll be working alongside our friendly Marketing and Communications team completing tasks set via our project management software. Your line manager will guide and mentor you throughout your time with us and you'll learn the ropes on the job.

--- We anticipate this position commencing in early July - but can be flexible.

Our history - past to present

Weston College has served the education and training needs of its local community for more than 100 years. It has its origins in private drawing and painting classes provided by Henry Stacy in Oriel Terrace in 1859.

The School of Art was opened on 7 February 1865 under the auspices of the Government's Department of Science and Art, and with the aid of £40 collected from local residents. In its first year of existence the Principal was the only teacher and approximately 80 students attended the six classes held weekly.

Since 1 April 1993, the College has been an autonomous public body. It is funded directly by central government via the Learning & Skills Council (LSC).
