Job overview

About the role

The Grounds and Maintenance team plays an important part in the life of this busy school and undertakes varied duties in order to maintain the School’s grounds, gardens and buildings. The team is led by the Head of Grounds and Maintenance.

We require a capable and flexible team player with a can-do attitude to join our busy Grounds and Maintenance team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and preparing our pitches for lessons and matches throughout the year. Our outdoor sports facilities include cricket, rugby, football, hockey, netball, and athletics.

We are looking for an experienced grounds person with exceptional standards, who will take pride in ensuring the pitches are looking their absolute best at all times. You will ideally already have experience in the use of horticultural machinery and equipment, and of marking pitches.

The role will also include providing support for the preparation of events such as Open Mornings, Prizegiving, plays, fundraising events and other School functions, so being capable of working in a team is important. The ability and an appropriate licence, or a willingness to drive a minibus would also be an advantage.

A degree of flexibility is essential for this role, and the successful candidate will therefore need to show that they can work well on their own, and as part of a team, and have regard to Health and Safety at Work Regulations.

Starting in February 2023, working hours will be from 7.00 am to 4.00 pm Monday to Friday year round.

All staff at Marlborough House School have an important role to play in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Please refer to the person specification, job description and Outline Terms and Conditions for further details.
