St Albans School Woollams Trust is seeking to appoint a Grounds Person to join the existing team in the maintenance and preparation of the playing surfaces of its extensive and prestigious multi-sports facilities. Opened in 2002, Woollams is one of the UK’s finest amateur sporting venues. With grounds extending to over 70 acres, includes 6 rugby pitches, 6 football pitches, 2 five-a-side pitches, 8 cricket squares, a floodlit artificial turf pitch, lacrosse pitch, 3 netball and 4 tennis courts. Woollams gives the School unrivalled facilities for games.
The ideal candidate is not required to have any formal experience in groundsmanship, however they should be able to demonstrate a commitment to manual outdoor work and have the ability to operate a range of grounds keeping machinery. The successful candidate will receive training, along with the opportunity to gain formal grounds keeping qualifications. Being a self-motivated and enthusiastic learner is essential, along with having the necessary skills to be highly productive when working both as part of a team and independently. A valid driving licence is also desirable.
This position is full-time (40 hours per week) with an expectation of availability for some rotational weekend work, for which there will be time off in lieu.
