About the role
Anthony's Catholic College, Deeragun is seeking an experienced and dedicated Groundsperson for a full time permanent position.
Working with limited supervision, the Groundsperson contributes to the effective and efficient operation of the College by providing a high level of maintenance and upkeep of the College grounds. The Groundsperson will be expected to work within Workplace Health and Safety guidelines and demonstrate the knowledge and ability to work in a team environment.
Duties will include
- Assist with constant upkeep and upgrading of College grounds and gardens, including fertilising, poisoning, landscaping and minor irrigation checks and repairs as required
- Maintain lawn, trim trees overhanging infrastructure, hedging, blowing down and outdoor vacuuming
- Bin runs, rubbish removal, tilling sandpits and pressure cleaning
- Assist with setting up for College functions and displays
- Carry out minor repairs to the College property and equipment

About you
- Demonstrated experience with prioritising workload and ability to assess repairs quickly
- Experience with the provision of a high level of maintenance and development of facilities
- Proven ability to work independently and with others as a team member.
- Ability to ensure a high standard of safety and due diligence as it applies to all areas of work
- Working knowledge of regulations, standards and safety applications of facilities and grounds.
- Able to adequately assess safety repairs quickly to enable maximum safety at all times
- Demonstrated flexibility and sensitivity to ensure the needs of students and staff are met to support learning
- An ability to communicate with a range of staff across primary and secondary school settings
- A demonstrated ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships.
Mandatory Criteria
- Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner
