The Estates department at Sevenoaks School is looking for an experienced and self-motivated, fast-working and efficient Groundsperson.  This is a varied role which will support the team in ensuring the School’s grounds are maintained at all times. 


  • Set out and prepare sports pitches for play including cricket, football, rugby, hockey, softball, tennis, netball and athletics
  • Maintain grass and artificial sports pitches.
  • Carry out operations on sports pitches and lawns with the use of pedestrian and ride-on equipment to scarify, aerate, top-dress, over-seed, lift and lay turf, feed, irrigate and cut.
  • Take responsibility for jobs where you are the most senior person.
  • Support the PE and other school departments as and when required.
  • Clean drives and pathways of debris, litter picking, clearing snow and applying grit salt as required
  • Work in a tidy and safe manner so as not to put oneself or others at risk

Person Specification

The Groundsperson should possess the following attributes:

  • Self-motivated
  • Adaptable and be willing to complete tasks within certain time periods.
  • Confident in working alone as well as part of a team
  • Ability to use own initiative to solve problems efficiently
