Catholic Education, Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn (CECG) plays an integral role in education both in the ACT and NSW operating 56 Catholic Systemic Schools and 8 Early Learning Centres.
About the Role
As Group Financial Controller, you will play a key role in the implementation of the mission of Catholic Education, Canberra and Goulburn (CECG). Working as part of the Senior Management team, you will have operational responsibility for the management of financial accounting services, compliance, and finance operations across CECG.
You will be a role model of exceptional finance service delivery to internal clients, senior leadership, and the executive and a key leader in the modernisation of the Finance function. You will be responsible for ensuring CECG meets its statutory reporting and public funding compliance requirements and deliver compliant and efficient Finance services across CECG. Additionally, you will lead and develop the Financial Control team.
You will support Finance leadership and CECG Executives by modernising and streamlining the Finance function and its services (“Finance as a Service”, or FaaS). You will improve financial accounting and operations processes to maximise efficiencies and optimise service delivery to internal clients and promote good governance and compliance.

Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, finance and a current membership of a relevant professional accounting body such as CA or CPA.
- Proven experience in a similar leadership role.
- Proven experience in strategically leading corporate or group finance services and operations within a complex environment.
- A proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop diverse teams.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and managing customer-centric teams in the delivery of financial services.
- Experience in identifying, mitigating, and managing financial and operational risk.
- A proven ability to access, analyse and interpret complex data enabling robust evaluation decision support.
- Experience with a diverse range of financial systems ensuring integrity is maintained whilst delivering operational efficiency.
- Proven effective consultation and negotiation skills and effective written and verbal communication skills.
