Guidance Counsellor

Cambridge High School is a co-educational school established in 1883 and with a roll of approximately 1600 students. Cambridge is in the heart of the Waikato region, famous for its proud Maori heritage, lush farmland and long summers. Cambridge itself is a vibrant town offering an outstanding ‘kiwi lifestyle’. It is within easy reach of ski fields, beaches, lakes, mountain biking and pristine forest – all while only being 2 hours from Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city. Recently elite sport has become a focus for the area with Triathlon, Kayaking, Cycling, Rowing New Zealand having established bases here and attracting national attention. The town is going through a period of significant growth and this is creating a real buzz about the future of Cambridge. Cambridge High School (CHS) is highly sought after with families choosing to move into town to gain access to the school. CHS serves the interests of the community incredibly well, meeting the academic, trades, cultural and sporting needs of a range of students. The increased interest in living in Cambridge and resulting school roll growth has meant that we are recruiting teaching staff for the upcoming New Zealand academic year. 

We are seeking a guidance counsellor to join our pastoral team from the beginning of 2020. This is full time permanent position. CHS is a community school and, as such, the ideal candidate will have experience with supporting students with a range of difficulties. Our pastoral team is very effective in supporting our students. The members of the Counselling Team are well respected and connected within the community and will offer excellent support to both new guidance counsellors and those with experience relocating into Cambridge.

The successful applicant will be eligible to apply for a NZ Ministry of Education International Relocation Grant of NZ $5,000 (if you are an overseas trained teacher) or NZ $7,000 (if you are a returning NZ trained teacher).
