About the Role

We are recruiting a highly motivated and ambitious Programme Manager to manage our computer science team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in digital education who would like to move into a management role. We are keen to speak to anyone interested in progressing within their career and working with us to grow our provision in line with the needs of the West Yorkshire economic region. We also invite candidates with a background in financial technology to apply.  

Higher Education is a significant aspect of the mission of Leeds City College. The College is a national provider of education, skills, training and employability opportunities and has developed extensive provision which is not provided elsewhere through more traditional HEIs.

Over 1300 students are currently studying a range of courses with us at University Centre Leeds. The curriculum offered is vocationally focused and diverse in nature. The institution holds Foundation Degree Awarding Powers and partnered with the Open University for Level 6 provision.

Our STEM department’s curriculum portfolio comprises a range of Foundation degrees and Top Ups within Digital, Computing and Science, Masters provision within Science and HNC/D’s in Engineering alongside a number of apprenticeships. 

What You Will Do

  • Manage activities and strategies to ensure the success of the department. 
  • Line management of staff, setting targets and managing performance. 
  •  Manage Strategies to ensure high retention, achievement, success and attendance rates for identified courses are reached.
  • Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
  • Manage the planning, preparation and development of schemes of work, teaching and learning resources and assessment plans.
  • Manage the recording of student progress and ensure that individual and group learner targets are being met.
  • Maintain a commitment to research and scholarly activity in line with the expectations of the University Centre. 

About You

  • Extensive experience in the digital sector - education or industry.
  • Extensive experience, knowledge and skills to manage delivery of a range of levels across the curriculum.
  • Experience of positively managing student and group progression, advice and guidance to positive outcomes.
  • Experience of supervising/managing staff to ensure high performance.
  • Experience of undertaking internal verification and moderation activities.
  • Proven commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Experience of working with stakeholders and being influential in establishing effective partnerships.
