St George’s College North is an outstanding non-profit international school in Argentina educating some 600 students aged 2 to 18. The School was founded in 1990 as a sister school to St George’s College Quilmes, which has a rich history dating back to 1898, and the two sites share the same philosophy and values. A proud member of the Latin American Heads’ Conference (LAHC), St George’s College is one of the leading educational institutions in South America. The Head of St George’s College North is an international member of the Heads’ Conference (HMC), an accolade that only four schools in South America enjoy.

St George’s College North is situated in the northern suburbs of Buenos Aires and enjoys a stunning campus of 8 hectares with purpose-built buildings and ample playing fields. The School offers a first-class bilingual education that comprises an integrated curriculum of the IBPYP, IGCSE and IBDP and that also meets the requirements of the Argentine system. A vibrant student-centred learning environment is promoted where children are active participants across all areas of school life and student-led activities and initiatives are encouraged. St George’s College North promotes an all-round educational experience that includes excellent provision in sport, music, the arts, outdoor pursuits, leadership and community service.

The Board of Governors of St George’s College now look to appoint a Head of the North Campus to succeed Mr. Oliver Proctor after six years of exceptional service. The Board welcomes applicants from a wide range of backgrounds, however applications are particularly encouraged from candidates with significant senior leadership experience gained in the UK or in a British international school setting, including current Heads of Section and ambitious Deputy Heads. The next Head of St George’s College North must be an empathetic leader who is student focused and comfortable managing a wide range of stakeholders. Some knowledge of Spanish is desirable, or indeed a willingness to learn the language, as well as a commitment to embrace the local Argentine culture.

A candidate brief is available from www.odgers.com/88666

Letters of application and CVs should be sent by the closing date of 09:00 BST Tuesday 30 May.

St George’s College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the necessary authorities.

St George’s College North is a co-educational private school with sixth form situated in the district of Los Polvorines in Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina. It educates 600 students between the ages of 2-18, with a teacher to student ratio of 1:7. The school offers the PYP and Diploma Programmes of the International Baccalaureate (IB) as well as awarding IGCSEs. It offers a bilingual education, but despite the majority of students being Argentine, the majority of classes are taught in English.

The school was inaugurated in March 1990, created as a sister school to St George’s College Quilmes, another leading school in Buenos Aires founded in 1898. It only catered for kindergarten and primary levels at first, but this would later expand to secondary and sixth form that it teaches today. As one of the pioneers of IB in Argentina and one of the first to implement all three of its programmes, the school has been praised for its academic achievement. Perhaps particularly significant was in 2015, when one student was awarded a 43 grade in their IB, the highest marks in Argentinian history!
