Job overview
Founded in 1889, The Hall is a market leading independent preparatory school for boys aged 4 to 13 located in Belsize Park, North London. Whilst renowned for its exceptional teaching and the academic achievements of its boys, with results placing it amongst the highest-ranked prep schools in London and the UK, The Hall has also developed an excellent reputation for its nurturing pastoral care and its breadth of curriculum.
The Hall educates 470 boys across three well-resourced sites, the Junior School, Middle School and Senior School, all of which are in close proximity to one another and share a cohesive ethos and educational approach. An important off-site space for sport and social opportunity has been the development of the Wilf Slack Playing Fields in Finchley, with its pavilion, acres of grass and all-weather pitches. Having recently completed a major capital project in 2024 to completely revitalise the Senior School building, The Hall is in a strong and financially healthy position with ambitions to continue to develop and enhance its reputation as one of London’s leading independent preparatory schools.
The next Head of The Hall will provide inspirational, clear and ambitious leadership which engenders a strong sense of community, allowing The Hall to continue to flourish within a competitive North London market. Working in collaboration with a supportive Board of Governors and highly qualified, dedicated staff, the Head will build upon the many strengths of The Hall and deliver a vision which will position the school at the very forefront of independent education.
The successful candidate will have a deep desire to nurture and develop the school and its boys and bring a clearly articulated, contemporary vision to bear. The new Head will be genuinely strategic, commercially minded and have first-class communication skills alongside a proven ability to engage with, inspire and lead the whole community of The Hall with a collaborative, relationship-building and and empowering approach.
