The Chair and Governors of West Buckland School invite applications for the role of Head from September 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The School is seeking a charismatic and experienced leader who will bring energy and commitment to the further development and growth of this 500+ HMC co-educational day and boarding school for pupils from 3-18. The School’s Nursery and Early Years form part of the Prep School; the Head of the Prep reports to the Head.
Founded in 1858, the School has flourished with pupils benefitting from both extensive modern facilities such as the Jonathan Edwards Sports Centre and the Michael Morpurgo Library, as well as its strong connection to the School’s rich history through the work of its Foundation. The President of the School is a direct descendant of the founder of the School, providing a unique link with its past.
The School, situated in an idyllic location in North Devon, has extensive grounds which include a substantial house on site for the Head. Access to the nearby beaches and Exmoor provide an exceptional backdrop to the School’s academic, pastoral, sporting, artistic and co-curricular provision. The School benefits from being fully independent and is not part of a group of schools.
