The Governors of Merchiston Castle School invite applications for the position of Head on the retirement of Mr Andrew Hunter in August 2018, following twenty years of outstanding leadership.
Merchiston is one of the United Kingdom’s leading independent schools and one of a handful of schools specialising in providing a high quality boarding school education for boys. Set in 100 acres of exceptionally beautiful parkland on the edge of the picturesque riverside village of Colinton near Edinburgh, Merchiston provides a stimulating, challenging, yet supportive and encouraging environment for 450 pupils aged 7-18.
Whilst Merchiston enjoys a strong sporting tradition, including thriving Tennis and Golf Academies, it is a school for pupils of all interests and abilities, and prides itself on the strength of its academic offering and breadth of its co-curricular provision. All pupils forge strong relationships with staff and peers, enabling them to reach their full potential and leave Merchiston with a zest for living life to the full and as accomplished, aspirational, and sensitive adults.
Through a commitment to delivering excellence for all, and a desire to push the boundaries of learning and teaching, the next Head will ensure Merchiston continues to develop and prepare pupils even more effectively to thrive in an ever- changing world.
