Job overview
Dukes Education are looking to appoint a Head for the The Lyceum School starting September 2022.
The Lyceum is a co-educational independent school located in the beating heart of the City of London (EC2) for children between the ages of 3-11. It is a happy and self-contained school where learning is rich, fulfilling, exciting and enjoyable. The outgoing Head, Mrs Hilary Wyatt, has been highly successful at promoting and cementing a warm, fun and caring culture at the school and we are now looking for a committed, dynamic new Head to take the school to its next stage of development.
The school is located in the heart of the ‘square mile’ financial and business district in the City of London. Just a five minute walk from Liverpool Street and Moorgate stations, the school is located in an attractive building – a former warehouse now fully restored and refurbished offering an excellent mix of indoor learning spaces and outside space.
We are a small but growing and busy school with committed and friendly staff offering a broad and rich curriculum to the children of mainly professional parents who live and work not far from the school. Our pupils achieve outstanding results and most go on to good senior schools.
The school has undergone a phased and systematic programme of upgrading over the past three years. Numbers have grown from c.100 in 2018 to c.150 this year, and links with a recently acquired and refurbished Dukes Nursery close by (Hopes and Dreams) provide a basis for further growth.
The challenge now is to build on these strong foundations and to extend, deepen and integrate the systems necessary to maintain the school’s trajectory and continuous improvement.
This role would suit an accomplished Deputy Head or Head looking to make the next step in their career, not only heading up a well-established and highly-successful school but also being part of Dukes Education, one of the UK’s leading groups of independent schools and educational providers.
