Job overview
Northbourne Park School
Head
Set in over 100 acres of beautiful park and woodland on the Betteshanger Estate in rural East Kent, Northbourne Park is an independent, co-educational day and boarding prep school for pupils aged 3 to 13 with a distinctive ethos and offering. From the school’s founding by Lord Northbourne in 1934, Northbourne Park has been committed to the imaginative use of the outdoors in all aspects of its provision and is proud of its well-established bilingual languages programme and international outlook.
The school’s philosophy is simple; if a child is happy, supported and cared for in their educational life, they will want to work hard and to get involved in a wide range of stimulating extra-curricular activities and contribute more and more to the school community, supporting their peers along the way. Northbourne Park is a special prep school with an exciting and bright future.
The Governors are seeking to recruit a truly exceptional leader, wholly committed to Northbourne Park’s unique ethos, to join the School as Head from September 2023, succeeding Mr. Sebastian Rees.
This is an opportunity for an imaginative, caring and driven individual to lead the School forward into its next chapter. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a proven and successful school leadership track record in order to inspire both staff and students to be the very best they can be, will show a clear commitment to Northbourne Park’s distinctive ethos, and will have strong commercial and strategic acumen and the desire to position the School to continue to thrive in a competitive marketplace.

A family environment - Northbourne Park has its roots in a family home and that’s what we provide – a school family. Children come here at many different ages and from many different backgrounds and our first priority is to help each one of them feel happy, comfortable and confident.
Focus on the individual child -we spend time helping develop the best possible potential, whether it’s in the classroom, the sports field, in the arts or any other walk of life.
Dedicated staff – our dedicated staff are loved by the children and parents alike. We have a high staff/child ratio ensuring that the children’s academic and pastoral needs are well cared for.
