Job overview
Prince William School,
East Midlands Academy Trust
Head
East Midlands Academy Trust (EMAT) is looking for an ambitious and experienced leader to succeed Elizabeth Dormor as Head of Prince William School from September 2024.
Prince William School is part of EMAT, which was first established in 2018 and now has almost 5,000 pupils and over 600 staff in seven schools across Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes. The trust currently consists of one all-through school, one secondary school and five primary schools. The school improvement model across the trust is one of ‘school to school’ support, enabling best practice to be shared between the academies.
Located in Oundle, Prince William School educates some 1,350 students from the ages of 11 to 18 and stays true to its vision of providing ‘Learning for Life’ which is underpinned by the core values of respect, ambition and resilience. Teaching at the school is designed to be life-enhancing, life-changing and life-long. Rated a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted, students are encouraged to aim high and A Levels results are above the national average. Students also benefit from outstanding pastoral care and a rich variety of opportunities beyond the classroom.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the next Head will look to further develop the school, building on internal and external networks, whilst working with EMAT to ensure excellent practice in all areas. The incoming Head will be an outstanding school leader with a proven track record of senior leadership and a sense of drive and ambition. Working closely with an experienced senior leadership team, this is an excellent opportunity to capitalise on opportunities and navigate the challenges of a fast-changing educational landscape, building on the school’s strengths and leading it into the next exciting chapter of its development. The successful candidate will have access to a strong network of outstanding schools and leaders across the trust and will be a collaborative and innovative leader with a commitment to EMAT’s ethos and values.
The position will offer a competitive salary relative to the experience of the successful candidate.

Thank you for visiting our profile and I’m delighted to welcome you to Prince William School, part of the East Midlands Academy Trust community of schools.
The EMAT vision is “every child deserves to be the best they can be” and we wholeheartedly believe in this vision of providing the best education for each and every one of our young people.
Our curriculum is well-sequenced, aspirational for all and has excellent teaching and behaviour at its foundation. We ensure that we develop the character in our young people to make the right decisions, at the right time, for the right reason, even when no one is watching.
At both GCSE and A level, our outcomes are very strong, and Ofsted recognise that our school is a “calm and friendly place” where our students “enjoy school, feel safe and are happy” and “respect staff”.
Our commitment to a wider curriculum goes beyond the classroom and we have an excellent range of leadership and enrichment opportunities for all students at all ages that stretch their social and emotional skills. The careers provision at Prince Williams School is exceptional; it is tailored to each individual student with a one-to-one meeting with our dedicated career adviser in Key Stage 3 and in Key Stage 4. The RSE curriculum allows our students to express their thoughts on a range of challenging topics and encourages them to develop their oracy and articulation skills to become confident in expressing themselves verbally.
We are fully committed to safeguarding our young people and all decisions are made with a lens of safeguarding their wellbeing. We are an inclusive school and our behaviour system is simple and straightforward for all to understand, allowing teachers to focus on the quality of teaching and deliver excellent learning opportunities.
I am incredibly proud to be the headteacher of PWS and, with an open-door culture, welcome any questions or queries. As a community, we will work collaboratively to find solutions and overcome any barriers that any of our young people have to fulfilling their incredible potential.

Headteacher
