Job overview

An opportunity to build on success.

Worksop College and Ranby House are Woodard Schools which value faith, unity and vision. They operate as a single school and occupy two beautifully located and well-resourced sites in North Nottinghamshire. The Head of Worksop College is the overall Head. The Board of Governors and the Senior Provost are looking to recruit a worthy successor to Gavin Horgan who will become the Head of Millfield School in September 2018 following what will have been 6 years of outstanding service to the College and Ranby House.

Worksop College was founded in 1890 and opened in 1895. The College and Ranby House are independent co-educational day and boarding schools with almost 600 pupils aged 3 to 18. The College has an increasing reputation for academic excellence running alongside outstanding pastoral care, co-curricular activities and sporting achievements. It is a place where pupils are given the opportunity to flourish in a caring community in which relationships between all members of the community matter enormously.

In recent years the College has seen further significant additions to and improvements in its facilities. The incoming Head will have the opportunity to continue this development, particularly as there are plans in place to build a state-of-the-art Junior School on the College site allowing the two parts of the School to work even more closely together.

This is a wonderful position for someone who believes in the benefits of strong all round education, who relishes the opportunities that boarding schools offer and who thrives as part of a Christian community. It will be crucial that candidates are able to articulate their vision of how Worksop College can develop and flourish in an ever-changing educational landscape.

The Governors welcome applications from those who have relevant senior leadership experience and are excited about the opportunities that Worksop College offers. An attractive package will be available for the successful candidate.
