Are you interested in leading and driving a new integrated Special Education Needs & Disability Service?

Newham is establishing an integrated SEND service, with an overarching aim to improve educational, care and health outcomes and resilience for children and young people with SEN and disabilities aged 0-25.

About the role

You will establish the new service and lead its implementation through a change programme. You will develop fully integrated and highly effective working practices bringing together five different teams from across education, social care, children’s and adult’s services to create a more integrated approach.

In leading and driving the new 0-25 integrated SEND Service your focus will be on delivering real improvements in outcomes for children and young people with complex needs.

Partnership working across the service will involve children’s and adult’s services and the health service to ensure that education, health and care plans are fully integrated.

You will ensure the local authority meets it statutory responsibilities in respect of children and young people with complex SEN and disabilities. This includes ensuring appropriate management of risk for vulnerable children and young people.

To lead development, delivery and review of high standards in planning, performance and commissioning of integrated services for children, young people, their families and carers - so resources are allocated efficiently, placements are appropriate and overall costs are reduced but life chances of children and young people are maximised.

About you

You will have expertise across SEN/education or social care children’s or adult’s services.

Proven experience of leading and delivering successful change management across complex, multi-disciplinary services, with an understanding of funding systems for early years, schools and colleges.

Knowledge of education to help achieve progress and commitment to inclusion.

Strong experience of strategic planning and service development with the ability to manage high levels of risk, including child protection.

Ability to display financial awareness and the use of data to set clear measures of success to drive up performance whilst leading, managing and inspiring a large multi-disciplinary service to work in new integrated ways.
