We are looking to appoint a new Head of Academy for one of our two primary academies based in Peckham, South London. This post can be based at Harris Primary Academy Peckham Park or Harris Primary Free School Peckham. The two academies work very closely together and share the same Executive Principal, and the academies are located less than a 10 minute walk apart.

As Head of Academy, you will shape and oversee the delivery of outstanding education in an academy made up of open, encouraging staff looking to innovate, transform and improve together.

What we are looking for

For this post we are particularly interested to hear from existing School Leaders as well as experienced deputy headteachers and vice principals. The successful post holder will need the leadership qualities, drive, ambition and a proven track record of successful school leadership to lead our academy to further success. With the opportunity to experience the support and network offered by the Harris Federation, this post would suit an experienced senior leaders looking for the next challenge and wanting to join a highly supportive Federation.

About Harris Primary Academy Peckham Park

Harris Primary Academy Peckham Park opened in September 2011 in the heart of Peckham. Children can start our Academy in the nursery when they are 3 years old and they leave after Year Six, when they are 11. Our Academy is an exciting place to learn and our pupils work hard and behave well. Our specialism is Literacy and Communication and we believe that learning to read, write and communicate effectively is extremely important. In 2011 97% of our children achieved a L4 in English at the end of Year 6. 100% of children made two national curriculum levels of progress in English.

About Harris Primary Free School Peckham

Harris Primary Free School Peckham opened in 2012 to meet the demand for high quality primary school places in Southwark, and now educates children from Reception to Year 6. The school has a community that predominantly originate from Latin American countries and so has a high percentage of children with English as an Additional language.  We have a superb team of teachers and support staff, all of whom are experts in primary education. We are an academy that values and invests in staff, excellent training, development, and planned career progression. We are a resilient team of ordinary individuals who genuinely enjoy working together to create excellent life chances for pupils within a challenging context, and we have an opportunity for you to join us.

By growing slowly but steadily, we are able to give every one of our 330 children a great deal of personal attention.  We have a superb team of teachers and support staff, all of whom are experts in primary education.

As well as focusing on helping our pupils become confident readers, writers and mathematicians, we will also be ensuring that, as our pupils progress through the school there is a range of music, drama and sporting activities for them to choose from.

We are proud to be part of a vibrant and supportive international community and are keen that parents and families play an active part in our school life. Our building is smart and modern, and we are fortunate enough to have a lovely playground and excellent equipment and facilities.

In April 2017, Ofsted judged our academy to be Good, reflecting the commitment that everyone in our community has to ensure that every child fulfils their potential.
