Head of Additional Learning Needs

St George Madrid is a well established school located in a prime educational zone to the North of the capital. The school is a part of the International Schools Partnership (ISP). This is a collection of 81 schools across 21 countries with a united focus on how to grow internationally minded students through strategic outstanding practice. St George Madrid operates on a large campus with many new and developing facilities. The school has seen significant growth in recent years, with potential for more. The successful candidate will be an experienced and enthusiastic practitioner, with experience of leading a team. The Head of Additional Learning Needs is expected to identify and develop departmental priorities as part of the school's ongoing development plans and work closely with both the primary and secondary team in identifying and supporting learning needs across the school. The ALN department is currently a team of five, with a range of experience and backgrounds. Supporting this team in their growth and development as a key whole school department is of the utmost importance, as well as providing support and development to our teaching team in order to best support all of the children in our school.

As part of a whole school team, the successful candidate would be expected to lead on developing the school's Additional Learning Needs provision. A commitment to educating the whole child, emphasis on high levels of pastoral care and an inclusive approach to education will be of the utmost importance as we make the final appointment. As our students come to us from a range of different backgrounds and with varying needs, an interest in raising attainment and supporting these and the monitoring of the progress of ALN students across the school is very important. Candidates will also need to demonstrate evidence of being strong team players as well as the ability to adapt quickly to new situations, with a flexible approach to problem solving. Initial interviews will be held virtually on a rolling basis with a face-to-face meeting for shortlisted candidates whenever possible in Madrid or London.
