Limehurst Academy is a popular and successful 11-16 school in the heart of Loughborough, and is a wonderful place to work. We are very proud to serve a multicultural community, and the school routinely celebrates its diversity. Visitors to Limehurst regularly comment on both the stimulating learning environment and the welcoming atmosphere offered by staff and students. We are a happy school, and we actively promote positive choices and having a can-do attitude. Just over 600 students attend Limehurst, and this number allows us to robustly implement our ethos of ‘Achievement in A Caring Environment’. We are currently judged as Good by Ofsted, with Behaviour & Safety judged to be Outstanding.

Our staff are of the very highest quality, and incredibly committed to the school. Staff development is given a high priority at every stage of a teacher’s career. We see our middle leaders as being the drivers of school improvement. The Head of ADT will normally teach 19 out of 25 lessons.

Our 2023 results were, again, very strong.  Progress 8 for all students was +0.26, with 58% of students achieving a Grade 5 in English & Maths.  As has been the case for many years now, all of our headline measures are well above national averages.  We are committed to improving yet again this academic year, and we are determined to do so.  Our parents and the local community are extremely supportive of the school.

The school was inspected by Ofsted in April 2022, who confirmed that the school remains a good school.  The report can be found on the school website.  It begins with the line: “Pupils are unanimous in their praise of Limehurst Academy.”  It also says, “Pupils are polite and respectful.  In lessons, their conduct is exemplary.”  We know our school well but we are not complacent.  We are constantly seeking to improve, and deliver outstanding education to the community we serve – a community that we are very proud to be a part of.

Our staff are of the very highest quality, and incredibly committed to the school. Staff development is given a high priority at every stage of a teacher’s career. No teacher teaches more than 21 out of 25 lessons.

Loughborough is a thriving market and university town in the heart of the beautiful Charnwood countryside. It has excellent road links, with the M1, M42 and A6 all close to the town. We are situated in the town centre, less than five minutes’ walk from regional bus connections, and fifteen minutes’ walk from Loughborough train station which serves all stations on the midland mainline. East Midlands Airport is less than twenty minutes’ drive away. World-class sport and arts can be found in the town itself and very locally, as can a huge variety of high-street and independent shops. There is plenty of affordable housing available in Loughborough and its surrounding cities, towns and villages.
