Job overview
An exciting new position has been created for a Head of Science and Maths who has a genuine passion for teaching, leading and engaging both learners and staff. The post holder will be an exceptional practitioner with the ability to demonstrate at interview their proven track record of success of teaching and leading curriculum delivery at A level and other level three provisions. The role will involve providing curriculum leadership for our Science and Maths provision which includes A Levels in Maths, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics as well as L3 Diplomas in Applied Science and Forensic and Medical Sciences. The successful post holder will be able to share outstanding teaching practices in order to take the department to the next level of achievements.
The post holder would also have a teaching commitment so needs to be able to teach on any of the L3 Science or Maths courses that we offer in the sixth form.
Some of the main duties are:
• Teaching on A Level and other Level three Science and Maths provision.
• Undertake quality assurance of delivery
• To liaise with awarding bodies
• To monitor compliance with college quality systems
• To act as a lead in developing other training for staff in the Science and Maths area.
• You must also hold a degree in your chosen specialist academic discipline and a full teaching qualification, holding a management qualification is desirable. You must be able to supply at interview evidence of your previous track record of improving teaching and results or maintaining an outstanding provision, as well as have experience of positively leading teams towards successful outcomes.
