Job overview

Role:                    Head of Art and Design, Bobby Moore Academy secondary phase

Address:          Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford, London.

Salary:               Leadership scale, dependent on experience (Inner London)

Bobby Moore Academy is looking to recruit an inspirational and dedicated teacher, preferably with a specialism in fine art, to lead art and design in the secondary phase. The candidate will be joining a diverse and highly skilled creative arts team, with well-established routines and regular departmental CPD.

This role will deliver a rich and highly academic curriculum in art and design throughout the school. The ideal candidate will be familiar with direct instruction and evidence-informed teaching practices.

We particularly welcome applications from a teacher with a specialism in fine art, as this will complement our existing offer in graphics, textiles and design technology.

Bobby Moore Academy is an all through school, providing a world-class education for the children of east London which is transformational in its impact on their life chances. We are situated across two iconic sites on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and our Secondary phase is now heavily oversubscribed. We are building partnerships with the new East Bank development, bringing incredible opportunities to the young people of East London.

Since the school was founded in 2017, we have set ambitious academic standards backed up by exciting enrichment opportunities, whilst nurturing and caring for the wellbeing of every child. At capacity, our two sites will accommodate over 1500 pupils, including a Sixth Form opening in September 2022. We currently have over 700 pupils on roll across Reception, Year 1, Year 2, and Years 7-10 in the Secondary phase. The academy will grow year on year to reach full capacity in 2024.

We expect the highest standards from our pupils and staff, and we are looking for someone who will be genuinely inspired by the chance to apply their knowledge and experience in a setting designed to be among the best of its kind in the country.

About the Creative Arts Department

The department is well resourced with superbly equipped practical spaces and prep rooms which enable a wide range of practical activities across all year groups. You will lead an experienced and dedicated team of teachers and support staff who are passionate about art and design.

At Bobby Moore Academy, students study an ambitious and academic curriculum. We believe that sequencing matters. Our KS3-4 curriculum is sequenced to ensure that all students master essential disciplinary and substantive knowledge for success at GCSE, A-level and into a future career.   This is an exciting time to be joining the department as we will be welcoming our first Sixth Form cohort in September 2022.
