Founded in 1905, Arnold House is a thriving boys’ prep school based in St John’s Wood, London. 

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Head of Art & Design (Maternity Cover) to join us from April 2022. The Head of Art & Design (Maternity Cover) will act as an ambassador for the department, promoting the subject to boys, parents and senior schools alike. 

The successful applicant will be an inspiring and committed teacher of Art & Design, with leadership experience, who has a clear vision for what makes a successful Art & Design department within a prep school, as well as a champion of the Arnold House ethos, whereby we aim to provide an education of breadth and excellence for boys across the ability range in a supportive, purposeful and stimulating environment.

The salary will be discussed at interview. Additional benefits include the Teacher Pension Scheme (currently), free lunches and the Cycle-to-Work Scheme.

Arnold House School is an independent Church of England primary school for boys aged 3-13, located in the St John's Wood area of north-west London. Arnold House School was established in 1905 with just nine pupils. Today there are eight year groups, each divided into two forms.

The school aims for class sizes of between 16 and 18. The main academic subjects are taught with a view to meeting the standards set by the Common Entrance syllabus, which relates to the demands of the national curriculum but with extra time devoted to French, classics and games.
