External applicants for The Head of Art and Design must be a specialist in Fine Art. Internal applicants may be a specialist in any endorsement.

This wonderful opportunity have arisen due to the retirement of the current post holder.

Art & Design is a thriving department with a long heritage of success and achievement. Our academic results continue to be outstanding and we are immensely proud of our inclusive ethos which enables students (many coming from a poor socio-economic background) to achieve and flourish.

Our purpose built, state-of-the-art, facility is home to 6 specialist subject areas, a professional photographic studio and darkroom (3D Design currently being taught in a separate bespoke facility). Our A Level curriculum offer consists of 5 separate Eduqas Examination Board subject endorsements: Photography, Fine Art, Graphics, 3D Design and Textiles and we are recognised as Ofsted Outstanding. We also offer the WJEC Foundation Diploma in Art & Design which is a popular progression route for some of our students. Our Foundation Art Diploma has been praised by the Examination Board as ‘One of the best courses in the country’ and has become a beacon of good practice for other centres. Our dedicated team of 6 teaching staff and 2 full time technicians delivering and supporting these subjects are all specialists in their subject areas, the majority of whom are still practising artists/designers bringing currency to their high skill levels and professional development. Progression onto HE, employment and apprenticeships is excellent with many of our alumni forging successful careers in the creative industries.

This role will appeal to someone who has a drive, passion and commitment to deliver outstanding teaching/team-management and a commitment to providing the best possible education for our students.

If you feel you share our values, have the vision and drive for excellence and want to be part of a dedicated team, committed to ensuring that students fulfil their potential, then we would love to hear from you.
