Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious and focused individual who has a passion for art and teaching and wants to help create artists of the future.

The art department at TBS is one of the most popular options at GCSE where we offer both art and photography courses and results are strong. Students can continue with both these specialisms into KS5 where they are offered at A Level. The person appointed will also play a key role in developing the departments’ involvement in the International Baccalaureate Career Program curriculum. KS3 students currently learn a range of techniques and skills with art lessons once a week in each year group.

The department has three specialist teaching rooms with interactive projectors and whiteboards in addition to students bringing their own laptops. We continually invest in our facilities and as such the photography suite is being renovated this summer with new facilities and computers. We have excellent schemes of work and digital resources as well as traditional materials and our cross-curricular links with other subject areas are strong.

At TBS, you will be part of a welcoming, supportive and dedicated staff team. You will be provided with your own teaching room and have a mentor within the department. You will also have access to professional development through a series of CPD activities, with a whole school, departmental and individual focus. Our school is vibrant with many extra-curricular activities and opportunities, and we encourage getting involved in existing clubs and societies or even starting your own.

If appointed, you will be joining TBS during our exciting journey into Visible Learning using the research of John Hattie. Visible Learning aims to develop our pedagogy, as teachers become evaluators of their own teaching. Our teaching and learning approach centres on what has the biggest impact on student learning using the simple concepts of; impact, change, challenge and learning focus.

We believe the atmosphere in our school speaks for itself, and should you wish to arrange for a visit prior to application or interview, please contact Sam Harwood; PA to the Headteacher.

If you have excellent communication skills and passionately believe in putting student learning first then we would like to hear from you.

For further information about the school, the role and application details, please visit the school website www.beaconsfield.bucks.sch.uk The vacancy section can be found under Joining Us.

Completed application forms should be sent FAO: Sam Harwood to office@beaconsfield.school

Closing date for applications: Wednesday 23 May 2018
