Job overview
This is an exciting, interesting and varied post where the key aim will be to enthuse the pupils in your subject and build on the past successes of the Art Department across the whole school. Each class receives 2 x 40 minute lessons every week.
The Art Department is a central part of life at Edgeborough. As a subject, Art is taken by all pupils and high standards are achieved by children across the age groups. The department’s home is in a beautiful glass and stone built, gallery-style extension in a stone courtyard that has been converted from a stable block. It is a most attractive work space and inspires the children (and staff!) to great accomplishments. But Art is not confined to the Art Room – excellent work adorns the walls around the whole site and children are rightly proud of their achievements which are celebrated at every opportunity.
Some of the key roles of this job will include teaching art & ceramics throughout the school, taking responsibility for the artwork displayed in all areas of the school, to help prepare pupils working towards art scholarship at 11+ or 13+ and to continue to support (and grow) Edgeborough’s artistic presence in the local community.
