The post becomes available as the current Head of Art retires after over 27 years distinguished leadership of the department. The successful candidate will be joining a thriving department and a happy staffroom in a lively and supportive atmosphere. High standards are expected of staff as well as pupils and we all strive to ‘be the best that we can be’.   

In addition to an excellent degree/ relevant qualifications and strong record as a classroom practitioner the applicant will be able to demonstrate the ability to think strategically, organise other people, communicate needs and plans to the department and Senior Leadership and to motivate others. Strong administrative skills will be essential.  

We will expect the successful candidate to build on a long tradition of successful academic results, lead the department into new and exciting directions and take an active pastoral role as a Form Tutor. The Head of Art is responsible for overseeing all Art and Photography courses within the main College, attending Health and Safety committee meetings and for fostering links with the Textiles Department and our preparatory school, Highfield.   

The ideal applicant should have a good grasp of technology and ideally a working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator (for graphics) and Abode Creative Suite.

Harrogate Ladies’ College was founded 125 years ago and is an independent school with a Church of England foundation offering day, boarding and weekly boarding. The School is a member of the Girls’ School Association teaching boys and girls aged 2-10 and girls 11 -18 years.  Harrogate Ladies’ College was deemed to be Excellent in all areas in the ISI inspection of 2017.
