Full-time
The School is seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic teacher of Art to lead this department. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to develop and build their own department. In July 2018 the department will be moving to a new Art faculty. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in the planning and equipping of this new department. The School’s pupils are gifted and highly motivated, keen to pursue Art. In recent years, pupils have left to study Art at University and more to study Architecture and Advertising. The successful applicant will be academically well qualified and have experience of teaching talented pupils up to A Level. Ideally, we are looking for a teacher with specialist experience in Fine Art and/or Digital Art. The department is always keen to respond to individual enthusiasms and involvement in the wider life of this outstandingly successful North London boys’ school is expected.

About Haberdashers' Boys' School
Haberdashers' Boys' School is a large independent school located in the village of Elstree, Hertfordshire. Founded in 1690, the all-through school educates around 1,200 boys aged 5-18, all of whom are day pupils.
The School has a selective admissions policy, with prospective students for the senior school expected to pass entrance exams across a range of subjects. The best-performing boys are interviewed to ascertain their suitability for a place at the School. Entrance to the pre-prep and prep departments is also selective, with assessed playgroup sessions and exams used depending on the boy’s age.

Pedagogy and teacher development takes a collaborative approach which is both voluntary and open-minded. Many teaching staff attend Learning Lunches where their peers will demonstrate new developments or ideas with which they have been experimenting. In addition, teachers can request specific training which is often run in well attended Twilight Training sessions at the end of a school day. The School operates an ‘open door’ approach with teachers regularly observing and learning from each other.
