Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious and well-qualified graduate, and talented artist, to the post of Head of Art at the College.

You will lead a successful department (of five teachers, three technicians and an Artist-in-Residence) which currently offers Fine Art at GCSE and A Level, and Photography at A Level. Your academic credentials will be strong, and you will be capable of teaching art to all levels in the College, right through to preparation for elite art schools and universities. An outstanding classroom practitioner with the ability to inspire pupils and staff, you will be driven to ensure that the quality of teaching and learning in the Department is of the highest calibre, and that the profile of art within the College and beyond continues to grow. You will, in collaboration with the Department, create and implement effective strategies to achieve your ambitious aims. A strong leader and a visible presence, you will also be fully conversant with the effective use of ICT to improve learning, planning and administration.

Marlborough College is renowned for the breadth and quality of opportunity afforded to our pupils. You will, therefore, need to demonstrate the intellectual rigour, emotional resilience and energy required to balance teaching commitments with an enthusiastic involvement across the pastoral and co-curricular life of the College community.

If your application is successful, benefits include a generous remuneration package, accommodation, support for continuing development, and membership of a vibrant Common Room. You will also enjoy living and working in this area of stunning natural beauty and historical significance.
