Rishworth School is a co-educational UK day and boarding School for students aged 3 to 18. Celebrating our Tri-Centenary in 2024, Rishworth School has occupied magnificent buildings in 140 acres of Yorkshire countryside located in the heart of the Ryburn Valley for the past 300 years. We are seeking to appoint a full time term time only Head of Boarding and Deputy DSL for September 2022.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage an enthusiastic team of resident Boarding House Parents who together take on in loco parentis responsibility for our boarding community.

The Boarding community consists of six boarding houses, each with differing themes and offerings. Our boarding provision ranges from age 10 to 19 with a mix of nationalities, gender and age. We regularly host short stay students alongside our long-term boarders to ensure a vibrant and culturally integrated community which blends with our day student offering.

The successful candidate will have experience in Boarding, a comprehensive knowledge of the National Minimum Standards and a vibrant outlook to drive the Boarding community at Rishworth School.

This is a full-time, term time only position of 40 hours per week (36 weeks a year), with the addition of 10 further days within the holiday periods. Evening and weekend shifts change with the vagaries of the timetable each term and are dependent on the number of staff and boarders at any given point. About Rishworth School

Rishworth School is a mixed, non-denominational, all-through independent day and boarding school situated in Rishworth, West Yorkshire. The school has a Christian ethos but welcomes students from all faiths. There are approximately 450 pupils at Rishworth, between the ages of 3-19.

Rishworth School was established in 1724 by John Wheelwright in a small building, now used as the school’s chapel. The junior school, Heathfield opened in 1951. The school is set around 130 acres of parkland. It is a founder member of the Society of Headmasters for Independent Schools (SHMIS). Rishworth and Heathfield both offer an extensive range of learning facilities and share a swimming pool, performing arts centre and playing fields.
