Job overview

Established in 1940, The British Council School is one of the most prestigious in Spain. Rated as outstanding in every category in a recent BSO inspection, it offers bilingual and bicultural education, achieving excellent results, both in Spanish and the UK examination systems, and preparing its graduates to attend universities in Spain, the UK and around the world.

Full Time, 3 year contract, renewable

We now seek an exceptional and outstanding professional to lead, support and manage a well established and excellent team at the British Council School; and to take us towards the next stage of its development.

As the Head of the School, you will provide both the academic and administrative leadership required to balance the tasks of guiding the pedagogical development of students and managing the finance of the School. You will ensure the school continues to be seen as one of the leading schools in Spain; a flagship within the British Council network and beyond; and a model for new future initiatives.

The close fit between the School’s strategic direction and British Council strategy is key, and you will act as the guardian who will provide leadership to the students, parents and staff, in line with these shared values and mission. Furthermore, your educational accomplishments will allow you to deliver a rich and appropriate curriculum, promote high-quality extra curricular activities and develop strategies for students and staff to achieve their best potential.

Ideally bilingual in both English and Spanish, you will bring a track record of excellence and sustained, high- quality, leadership. You will also be likely to have a relevant post-graduate qualification, with the NPQH as a distinct advantage.

Closing date: 27 January 2017
Preliminary Interviews: w/c 6 February 2017
Final Interviews: 6-8 March 2017 (3 days in Madrid)
