Job overview

Tes is supporting the appointment of a Head of Business and Computing at a secondary school in Essex.

The school are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Business and Computing to join their close-knit team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Business with experience teaching KS3-4.

At the school, they currently offer GCSE Computer Science and Business as well as BTEC Enterprise. As the Head of Business and Computer Science, you will also have the opportunity to participate in AET subject network curriculum meetings four times a year. This will be a great chance to keep up with the latest curriculum developments and share best practices. They have dedicated computer suites with Chromebooks and four classrooms dedicated to computer suites.

The school has a strong focus on extracurricular activities. They have two clubs, Magic the Gathering and Warhammer, which are designed to support our students' critical thinking, Maths, Engineering, Arts, and reading skills. They also hold a yearly careers fair for year 10 and 11, with local businesses collaborating with the local MP Priti Patel. Enterprise students have the opportunity to learn about local businesses, which helps them gain a better understanding of the industry.

Business and Computing Science are very popular among their students, and next year, they are expecting 70% of the cohort to select the subject. As the Head of Business and Computer science, you will have the opportunity to develop the department in your vision, ensuring that our students have a clear path from Year 7 and are passionate about the subject.
