The Edinburgh Academy is a modern, exciting, vibrant co-educational school for 2 to 18 year olds. Housed on two characterful sites near the centre of Scotland's capital, the school provides the best in 21st century education. Our ethos, size and genuine individual care makes us sector leading in our ability to cater for the unique talents, needs and ambitions of all.
Many of the Academy’s founding principles, established in 1824, remain the same today: our overriding ethos is derived from the school motto: ‘Always Excel’. At the Edinburgh Academy we aim to work closely with our pupils to find and unlock their potential, to discover ways that our students can succeed and to help them learn new things about themselves as they grow into young adults. A focus on pupil wellbeing and character development gives our students the self-confidence, self-belief, resilience and determination to always do their best.
We are looking to appoint a Head of Careers - The EA Careers Department has built up a reputation for being very much pupil centred, with the emphasis on availability and individual guidance. This is an exciting opportunity for the new Head of Careers to develop this strength even further but also to have their own vision for the department in a rapidly evolving careers world. Working closely with a team of Careers Advisers and a Careers Librarian/Adviser (there are three part-time members of staff currently), the post-holder will be responsible for the management and delivery of the school’s careers provision. In addition to a dynamic careers programme, the Edinburgh Academy’s top priority is to make impartial careers advice available, on an individual basis, to all pupils.
The closing date for this position is Monday 2nd December with interviews taking place the week beginning 9th December. Full details can be found in the attached job description.
