An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a well-qualified and inspirational Head of Chemistry.
Founded in partnership between NLCS (UK) and Sobha, North London Collegiate School [Singapore] will open its doors in August 2020. We are excited to be bringing the ambitious and inspirational NLCS ethos to the dynamic and exciting location of Singapore.
The School will provide the same impressive range of extra-curricular activities for which North London Collegiate School (UK), NLCS Jeju and NLCS Dubai, are well known, to foster the holistic development of well-rounded individuals.
The school will be purpose built, boasting impressive, state-of-the-art facilities; construction is already underway and on target for completion in February 2020.
NLCS [Singapore] is looking for dynamic and committed Head of Chemistry, with an outstanding track record, to teach at the School from August 2020. The appointee will lead a team of specialist teachers who will deliver Chemistry lessons throughout the Senior School, in addition to IB Diploma in Sixth Form, ensuring that the qualities of the IB Learner Profile and the core academic skills of research and inquiry are embedded within the curriculum
It is essential that the Head of Chemistry has the ability to communicate substantial knowledge in and passion for the subject area.
The Head of Chemistry will have responsibility for designing and implementing effectively a comprehensive Chemistry programme that advances the academic and cultural education of the school and is engaging and relevant to every student at every level.
The successful candidate will have an international outlook and an appreciation of the richness that a diversity of cultures brings to a school. The appointee will have considerable experience in teaching all secondary age groups, with a demonstrable passion for their subject and a commitment to the development of Chemistry more broadly. He / she will be educated to degree level or above and may also have other relevant professional qualifications.
The post holder will be an outstanding practitioner who has a proven ability to lead by example and can manage, inspire and motivate others in delivering high quality teaching and learning.
Previous experience of the IB Middle Years Programme and/or the IB Diploma are an advantage. Of prime importance is an ability to motivate and inspire students and lead staff in order to ensure that academic provision is consistently of the highest standard.
The appointee will manage all aspects of teaching and learning, in keeping with the overall aims of the School. They will also be responsible for supporting members of the department in all appropriate ways, ensuring that they work together as a cohesive and collegiate team in effectively addressing the aims and priorities of the School.
