The College currently has over 450 students studying A level Chemistry, these numbers having grown significantly in recent years. A brand new science facility has recently been completed which allows all the science subjects to work closely together. The College is committed to supporting the STEM agenda and is working with the Prince’s Teaching Institute and schools to raise students’ awareness of and success in science both at GCSE and A level. Applications are therefore welcome from teachers with management experience either in a school or college context.
Winstanley College employs approximately 180 staff and has approximately 1900 students, primarily studying A-Level with some students following mixed programmes which include other level 3 courses. The Chemistry Department currently delivers the OCR Chemistry A level specification and at present comprises four teachers, one of whom is the Assistant Head, and one technician. The position provides an opportunity to develop the future of Chemistry and to lead the department towards becoming outstanding. Specific additional management opportunities will be negotiable depending on the aptitude and interests of the successful candidate, for example, contributing to the growth of vocational courses.
The preferred start date for this post is Easter 2020, although a September 2020 start would be considered (please indicate in your application when you would be able to start).
