We seek an experienced specialist in economics to lead our department, currently offering economics and business studies to A level. The successful candidate will have strong credentials, both breadth and depth of knowledge in the subject(s), a high level of English language ability, and a clear enthusiasm for developing the abilities and understanding of our students. We have modern and well-equipped facilities, with interactive whiteboards as standard. There is a dynamic staff culture at the school with strong professional development which has a national reputation. There is an emphasis on the use of IT in a blended and realistic educational environment, achieving the best outcomes with varied approaches. Students have their own devices. Since the foundation of the school in 2011, POWIIS has built a significant academic reputation with outstanding results, although we have students of a wide range of abilities, all equally deserving of the highest quality of teaching to the level of their potential. The curriculum is based on the English system, and examinations are GCSEs and AS/A2. Student entry to the school is by test and interview.
Malaysian work permits are usually granted for two or three years. Contracts are therefore fixed term, but continuity is important for the school; it is hoped that appointments will be seen as longer term, with renewal of contracts common in the school.
