Job overview
This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an inspirational practitioner to join Broadwater School and further contribute to the life chances of young people in the school and across our Trust.
Our standards are exceptionally high, classrooms are disruption free, pupils are hardworking, polite, and genuinely want to make a difference for themselves and those around them. Our latest Progress 8 score of +0.72 places us in the top 7% of schools nationally and the number one 11-16 school in Surrey. We are committed to reaching our target of +1 progress 8 in the next couple of years. The new Head of Computer Science will be integral to this success.
Broadwater’s success journey has been described as ‘extraordinary’ and as our success has become more widely known, our popularity has grown exponentially in the local community resulting in waiting lists in every year group. We are lucky to have very positive relationships with our families and other stakeholders.
Our latest Ofsted (July 2023) described the school as ‘calm and orderly’ and visitors often remark on how Broadwater looks and feels like a ‘happy’ school. Our school principles of ‘Work Hard; Be Kind; Make a Difference’ are central to all that we do.
Our Personal Development programme was judged as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted and we are particularly proud of our extra-curricular provision which can be found on our website. Every teacher is involved in ensuring this provision is ’beyond outstanding’.

About Broadwater School
History and Ethos
Established in 1968, Broadwater School is a co-educational comprehensive state school for students aged 11 – 16. On the smaller side, our current student population is approximately 570. The size of the school helps to generate its distinctive ethos and atmosphere, where the individual is known and catered for. Students are able to develop their characters and gifts, not only through their studies, but also through extensive opportunities in sport, drama, music and the arts. High expectations of our students, our staff and our relationships ensure that we are all able to achieve personal, social and academic success.
The school received an Ofsted inspection in October 2019 under the new framework and achieved a ‘GOOD’ overall judgment with OUTSTANDING in Personal Development (click HERE to see the report). The report details the excellent work of the school as we move towards becoming an outstanding school.."
Our standards are exceptionally high, classrooms are disruption free, pupils are hardworking, polite, and genuinely want to make a difference for themselves and those around them. Our latest Progress 8 score was 0.35 and we are committed to raising this still further in coming years
