The role

The Computer Science Department at BIS Hanoi is a forward-thinking, supportive and collaborative team, who are proactive in developing their teaching practice to respond to emerging trends and technological advances.

The team is made up of highly motivated teachers who are eager to work with other departments in order to deliver the best student learning experience. Our curriculum is inspired by the English National Curriculum in Years 7-9 and builds capacity for students to consolidate their learning in a practical manner. In Years 10-11 we offer Cambridge IGCSE, leading ultimately to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Years 12-13.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to plan and deliver high quality lessons that engage, motivate, and challenge students of all abilities, and come with innovative, enriching ideas, as well as being a strong team-player. Demonstrable Java skills are distinct advantage for candidates.


Purpose of the role

·        To lead and provide day-to-day management and organisation of the Computer Science Department.

·        As a key middle leader, assist in developing long-term strategies to raise standards in the subject and the school generally.

·        Foster a culture of high performance within the team, with learning and student well-being as central foci.

·        Encourage a culture of collaboration, risk-taking, and support, and promote a shared vision.

·        Lead the ongoing development of the curriculum, teaching and learning standards, and departmental resources.

About you

The successful candidate will be an inspiring leader and exceptional classroom practitioner, with a track record of delivering high quality teaching and learning and providing effective department management. They will be someone who engenders trust and motivation in those they lead, who places students at the centre of their practice, and is passionate about the power of lifelong learning. We are looking for someone to join our committed, hard-working team of educators who is caring, open-minded and globally conscious.

The appointee will possess a university degree, a recognised teaching qualification, and teaching experience and be able to meet visa-related restrictions for Vietnam, including a degree, PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
