Job overview

 The School

We have a unique and exciting opportunity for a dynamic and energetic professional to join us as we embark upon a transition from a split site to a newly built school, ready to open in September 2023.

We are looking to appoint a forward-thinking teacher of Computer Science/ICT who has the focus and drive to support the development of ICT across the school and for the future. You will have a strong vision to prepare for the transition and to advise further the development of ICT across departments once the school is operational on a new site.

We see ICT as an expanding area in our future and is at the core of developing and incorporating new systems for teaching and learning across the school.  We have received major investment from local businesses to enable us to develop our IT infrastructure and to commit to this future growth.

Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust has two schools within the Trust and Kenilworth School and Sixth Form is rated as Outstanding by Ofsted and as the only secondary school in the community of Kenilworth, is oversubscribed with motivated and well behaved pupils.

The school is well resourced to support the delivery of the subject. The post holder will join a supportive school with opportunities for professional development.

Our educational ethos encourages our students to be responsive, resilient, to have reasoning, be reflective and resourceful in their learning.

 The Role

The most important thing we are looking for is someone who is passionate about Computer Science and ICT and can articulate a clear vision how ICT and Computer Science can enhance our offer. Ideally, we are looking to appoint a candidate who is currently a Head of Computer Science/ICT or has a responsibility within a department who is looking for a new and exciting challenge to grow this department to be a leading edge area of the school. Do not be put off if you are not already a Head of Department as we will also consider exceptional candidates who have energy and enthusiasm and can demonstrate the ability to take the next professional and leadership step in their career to make a difference to a community.

You must be a strong teacher who enjoys good relationships with young people and have a proven track record of effective teaching to deliver against high standards. You will have strong communication skills leadership potential and have a clear vision for the planning and delivery of Computer Science and technology in the curriculum and across the school for the future.

The role is primarily as the Head of Department but is enhanced in salary to allow for growth and to make a wider contribution to the strategy and further development of ICT across the school in partnership with an Assistant Head and the Headteacher.

The successful candidate will lead a small team of two, experienced teachers.

You should be aspirational, innovative, have a genuine engaging enthusiasm for teaching and learning with a passion to develop IT for the school’s future.

We can offer you:

·        Excellent CPD opportunities

·        A supportive team of colleagues and across the school

·        A positive, community school environment with an innovative learning culture

·        A dedicated and forward looking management team, with highly skilled staff upholding high expectations and aspirations for our students

·        A wide enrichment programme in which you can participate

·        Employee well-being benefits via our healthcare provider to include physiotherapy, health diagnostics, 24/7 access to a GP and mental health support, on-site free flu vaccinations and a laptop.

Please email Hayden Abbott, Headteacher at H.Abbott@ksn.org.uk for an informal discussion on the role.

Why would you join Kenilworth School & Sixth Form?

We have just moved into a brand new purpose build site with state of the art facilities, the school was recently ranked as the fourth best comprehensive school in the West Midlands in the Times Best Schools 2024, our Ofsted inspection in November 2023, accredited the school with an Outstanding grading in every category, stating, 'the school is a centre of excellence' and our Progress 8 score for 2023 puts us in the highest category.  This underpins the commitment and values that our staff strive hard to achieve and exceed for our students.

However, above all of this is the sense of pride the whole community has for the school, and the focus upon staff and student well-being. This is reflected in the far reaching enthusiasm of our students to support  local and national charities and rise to challenges at sporting and academic events around the country.

As a staff member you would benefit from our employee assistance programme- physiotherapy, 24/7 GP and mental health support, retail and gym discounts, free flu vaccination, free on-site gym, a laptop, free electric car charging.

This is not an exhaustive list, but just a few reasons to be a proud member of this school and community.

Before you do apply, please take a moment to look around our website, www.ksn.org.uk, where you can gain an insight into our students’ activities and achievements.

Thank you
